DENTAL CROWNS TREATMENT

“Crowns and bridges are the strongest and most long lasting way of rebuilding a tooth or replacing missing teeth”

Dental crowns are often required when a tooth has been severely weakened and is no longer structurally sound. This can be as a result of:

Fall
Trauma
Tooth decay
Large fillings
Age related wear and tear

This cosmetic dental treatment can also be used to brighten and improve the appearance of one’s smile by covering broken, chipped, stained or discoloured teeth or by modifying the shape of a tooth. Dental crowns are custom-made for each individual patient and can be matched to existing teeth making them a favourable cosmetic dental treatment option.

Crowns and bridges can be used on natural teeth and dental implants and are made in a laboratory by a dental technician, using materials such as gold, metal alloys and porcelain. These materials are still used, as well as a more modern tooth-coloured material called zirconia, which is very hard. These are most long lasting solution of rebuilding a tooth as generally a crown or bridge will last well over 15 years, and do not stain or change colour.
